Finding Your Fiber Art Niche
I found my fiber art niche over years of playing with yarn, thread, and material. My Mother taught me how to embroider, sew, and crochet when I was a girl. We used to get a small magazine called "The Workbasket" and it was full of all kinds of needle craft patterns and ideas. I could hardly wait for the new one to come in the mail! I taught myself how to knit and the ladies in my knit night group taught me how to spin on a spindle and then a wheel. I recently found out my great grandmother Amanda was a master weaver. My cousin still has a bedspread she wove and despite the fact that it is over 100 years old, it is still in good condition. I am anxious to start weaving my handspun into something beautiful! My fiber niche? EVERYTHING that has anything to do with creating something beautiful with fiber!
If you want to find your niche, start your fiber journey at The Nook. We teach classes and I have many different types of yarn and fiber to make into unique creations. So take a class here or just come and sit with us and here about our fiber journeys. We are all set to share our projects with you and to teach you what you need to know to create with fiber.
The picture above is of a loom we rescued from a shed. It is in good working condition now and is bargain priced. The yarn is cotton and is now in the hands of an artist whom I am sure will do it justice! Check out my Etsy site for some bargains, some vintage fiber art, and some beautiful hand dyed yarns.
I hope to see you at The Nook, where we can help you find your fiber art niche.
