Summer Knit Along
It is time for another knit-along! With summer warming up, it is time to cast on a refreshing cotton top. We picked the Mangrove Tee! It is a cute botanically inspired top that would be perfect for hot weather when knit with cotton, or a good fall/winter tee if you chose to knit it with wool. Come on down to the shop and join us for 4 weeks of knitting fun!
Where: here at The Hook & Needle Nook! 1508 North Monroe Street in Spokane, Washington.
When: all Tuesday evenings from July 18th to August 8th, from 5 to 8 pm
Who: all knitters!
Cost: it is free to participate, however you will need to purchase your own pattern and yarn & needles if necessary.
Pattern: Mangrove tee by Trust the mojo
Sizes: intended to fit bust sizes 33.4 (33.4 to 37.4, 37.4 to 41.3, 41.3 to 47.2, 47.2) inches
Yarn: 464 - 927 yards of DK weight yarn
Yarn Ideas: All of the following yarn ideas would make the cutest tops! The yarn weights all vary slightly, so be sure and swatch before you start on your top.
If you want to knit the top up quickly to wear in the hot months of August and September, we suggest knitting it with cotton as the pattern recommends.
- Cascade Noble Cotton: 100% Mercerized Long Staple Cotton
- Cascade Ultra Pima: 100% Pima Cotton
- Cascade Sarasota: 60% Cotton and 40% Acrylic
- Berroco Zinnia: 93%Cotton and 7% Nylon
- Berroco Spree: 56% Wool and 44% Cotton (handwash only)
- Cascade 220 Superwash Merino: 100% Superwash Merino
- Malabrigo Arroyo: 100% Superwash Merino
- Stolen Stitches Nua Sport: 60% Merino, 20% Yak, and 20% Linen (handwash only)
- Cascade BFL: 100% Blue Faced Leicester Wool (handwash only)
Needles: the pattern recommends a US 6 & 8, but you will need the size you get a gauge of 18 stitches and 22 rows in a 4 inch square in the foliage stitch.
